What are you currently reading?

  Luxe by Anna Godbersen

This is different than what I usually read, but it seems pretty interesting despite being in 3rd person (I tend to put 3rd person POV books on the “maybe” pile.)

Someone Like You by Sarah Dessen

I am about half way through this, but I may put it on the TBR Later pile. I really liked the story at first. It’s about friendship and dealing with death of a boyfriend. Then it got into the other issues – first the teen pregnancy thing, someone that was never remotely hinted at earlier, then it added dementia in a grandparent. However, I feel like it’s an absolutely authentic teen book, because I remember issues being important to read about in a fiction book. It opens the readers’ eyes to what some people have to go through. I like Sarah Dessen’s writing, I just don’t know if I’ll finish this anytime soon.

Fortunately, the Milk by Neil Gaiman

Diary of a Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney

What do you think you’ll read next?

The Impossible Knife of Memory by Laurie Halse Anderson

One of my favorite authors has a new book! I read the Kindle sample and really liked it. I don’t buy books too much these days, but I can’t wait to read this.

  Panic by Lauren Oliver

Another great author, but not sure how soon I’ll get to this.

All American Girl and Avalon High by Meg Cabot

I’m much more likely to read one of these two next. I love Meg Cabot because her characters have such a good voice.

What are you currently reading?

Little Women and Me by Lauren Baratz-Logsted

I found this while I was searching the library shelves on my Kindle. I’ve only read parts of Little Women, but I watched the movie with Winona Ryder and Claire Danes plenty of times when I was in college, so I know the basic story. Some reviewers thought the author didn’t do the original work justice, but since I don’t have a big emotional attachment to it, I find it quite interesting.

The One and Only Ivan by Katherine Applegate

I finished this while lying in bed last Saturday morning. It was such a touching story, and I was glad to start of my year of reading with such a unique middle grade novel. Thanks to everyone who recommended it.

What do you think you’ll read next?

Little Women by Louisa May Alcott

Per my 2014 Book Bingo Challenge, I think I’m going to go with a classic next. Since I’m on the topic, I may as well finally read all of this. It’s been on my TBR list for ages too. It’s just one that I just never got around too, even though I’ve owned copies. Sad, I know. (Don’t you just love this cover?)

What are you currently reading?

The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey

I’m really liking this and am already 13% into the book. I got it from the library via Kindle after reading the sample Amazon offers. There is a new trend in dystopian, Earth invasion books, and I’m on board. The next book close to this one seems to be Angelfall and In the After.

How I Live Now by Meg Rosoff

Some people don’t like Daisy’s voice as she tells this story. I wanted to stop reading, but I each day I looked forward to reading more. I wanted to know what was going to happen to her and her cousins. It’s a different book that the cookie-cutter action stories that YA Lit has become. (Each one seems to start the same anymore, ya know?) I gave this a five star rating because it kept me interested and was just the right length for the sorted love story.

What do you think you’ll read next?

Delirium by Lauren Oliver

I have technically been reading this for months now, but I just cannot make myself get through it. I don’t know why either because Lauren Oliver has quickly become one of my favorite authors. I’m interested in the story and I want to read the whole trilogy (hint, hint, Santa) but I keep finding other books that catch my attention. I need to finish this and move on to the next books.

Insurgent by Veronica Roth

I also expect Santa to leave the last two books in the Divergent trilogy. I wasn’t that jazzed about Tris as a character in the first one (I know, I know) but by the end I was more interested in the whole story.

I know it’s been since October since I wrote one of these posts, so I hope to keep up now that I’m back on a good role with my book choices. This time next week will be Christmas Day so I wish you all a very happy holiday. May you find many books under the tree, and even more books on sale on Boxing Day.

What are you currently reading?

Mockingjay (Hunger Games #3) by Suzanne Collins.

I started reading this now that the second movie is coming out. I bought the set before I moved here in 2011, and after all the reviews of how it’s not as great as the other two, I put it aside. I still like Collins’s voice in the story. Aside from the whole bunch of characters that I have a hard time keeping up with, Katniss is a good, strong female. It’s not that I can really relate to her, it’s just written so I can feel as if I’m part of the story. That’s the kind of writing I think we all strive to create.

Also, I love how my phone wants to add “Collins” after I type out my name.

What did you recently finish reading?

Carrie by Stephen King

I still have to write my review for that, but heck, I still didn’t write my review for Divergent that I finished months ago.

What do you think you’ll read next?

I honestly have no idea what I’ll read next. I just pick up the ton of books I have and find one that catches my attention. I can say I’m going to read any number of books, but it will more than likely end up being something completely different.

What are you currently reading?

I decided to read Carrie by Stephen King again for about the third time. It’s a great story, though I sort of don’t like the story as a historical account, but it makes sense. It needs that element of other people telling the story, so you can understand what Carrie’s going through. She’s not capable of explaining how weird her mother is because she has nothing else to compare it to. I’m almost finished. I put it down last night right as things were kicking off at the prom.

What did you recently finish reading?

I still am only half way through with Stunning. I read chapters here and there, but I’m not sucked in like I use to be (especially because now the mystery’s been solved, basically.)

What do you think you’ll read next?

Until the End: Final Friends Trilogy: The Party, The Dance, and The Graduation by Christopher Pike. I would really love to say that I’m going to read through all three of these books again. I’ve had it since my first trip back to Florida in 2011 and I just recently started rereading the first book. I absolutely loved Christopher Pike novels when I was in high school, and I distinctly remember this series to be more detailed and engaging as a young adult novel than the shorter books. I wanted to rekindle that excitement in reading for myself again. I want to remember what made me love a book when I was 15 years old.

By the way, the covers looked like this when I read them in the 90s:
